The Death Penalty

     His crimes were horrifying; the sentence just. Still with last night's midnight execution of Ronnie Lee Gardner in Utah by firing squad, I am appalled at the sheer brutality of it. There are so many deserving people struggling with illness and disaster for whom I have have prayed they will be allowed to live. I prayed for my father's life, but he was taken from us four years ago. I am not the giver of life. I tremble to put myself in the place of God by taking a life.
